  • 7 - Where does RentMyHome.co.uk operate?

We operate fully in England and Wales. Our letting service does not currently operate in Scotland.

  • 8 - How do I find tenants with RentMyHome.co.uk?

The first step to finding tenants is by registering or logging into RentMyHome.co.uk using your email address and password that we set up on registration. Next, we write up a description for your property and upload some quality photos that best showcase your property (note: the better the photos, the quicker the letting process!). Then once you approve your advert, you’re ready to go live on the market.

  • 9 - Where will my property be listed?

We advertise on all of the top UK property portals including Rightmove, Zoopla and On the market and Boomin.

  • 10 - How many photos should I upload for my advert?

It goes without saying that providing more photos gives prospective tenants a better impression of your property beforehand. We recommend uploading at least 10 (or more, depending on how large the property is). If you’re uploading your own photos, ensure you use a high resolution camera. A quality smartphone camera may suffice, but we recommend a wide-angle lens digital camera for better results. And for the best possible response to your advertising, you also have the option to use our professional photography and floor-plan service. Floorplans are especially useful if your property is unfurnished, and gives prospective tenants an accurate representation of space.

  • 11 - How long will my advert take to go live?

Once we have everything we need in terms of property photos, a description and your final approval, we can get it live within a few hours of you signing up!

  • 12 - How long will my property be listed for?

We're happy to market any Essential packages for up to 2 months. This can be extended for 30 day periods at a nominal cost. Our Let Only and Fully Managed clients have their properties advertised until it is successfully let.

  • 13 - Can I edit my property advert once it’s live?

Of course! You can make changes to your property advert any time. And feel free to call us if you want to discuss any changes beforehand.

  • 14 - How do prospective tenants make contact?

Tenants contact us directly through our website. If they have a question, wish to arrange a viewing or indeed make an offer, this is all done through RentMyHome.co.uk, and you’ll be notified by email if these activities occur.

  • 15 - Who hosts the viewings?

With RentMyHome.co.uk you get the choice. We allow landlords to meet and choose their own prospective tenants as part of our essential service. After all, no one knows more about your property than you! You can set time slots for viewings, then tenants can choose times according to your availability. For the Let Only and Fully managed package, we conduct unlimited accompanied viewings on landlords behalf.

  • 16 - What happens if I don’t receive any tenant enquiries?

Not satisfied with your advert’s performance? Give us a call any time and we can discuss how we can make improvements.

  • 17 - How far in advance should I advertise my property to let it out?

We recommend advertising your properties at least 4 to 6 weeks prior to it becoming available to move into. And 8 weeks if it’s a property with three or more bedrooms.

  • 18 - What does it mean to reference tenants?

We provide 2 comprehensive reference checks on your behalf (including a credit check, an employer reference and a previous landlord check) to make sure any prospective tenant can afford to rent your property and highlight any past issues or missed rent payments. You can also purchase additional reference checks at a nominal cost.

  • 19 - How do you make sure the tenant has supplied you with the correct credit check information?

As part of the credit checking process, we collect detailed information about the tenant’s employment status and address history. This is then checked and confirmed by our referencing partner.

  • 20 - What can I do to speed up the referencing process?

In order for the referencing process to start, the tenant must submit all information. This is often the biggest delay so if it’s taking a while, we will continuously chase the tenant. Then we simply await references from our referencing partner.

  • 21 - Can you manage my property?

Yes, absolutely! We offer a Fully Let and Managed service for just 6% plus vat of your rental income. Which includes tenant-finding, professional photos and floorplans, viewings and complete management and maintenance of your property throughout the tenancy.

  • 22 - What’s an EPC and why do I need one?

A valid Energy Performance Certificate is a legal requirement when selling, buying or renting out a property. It’s based on your home’s energy efficiency and gives anyone moving in an indication of fuel costs.

  • 23 - What’s an Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement and do I need one?

This contractual agreement means once the fixed term of a tenancy has expired, a landlord has the right to regain possession of the property at any time, provided sufficient notice is given to the tenant. We will draw up a bespoke and legally watertight Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement for all landlords.

  • 24 - Who handles payments at RentMyHome.co.uk?

We use a completely safe and trusted payment service called Stripe to manage all financial transactions on RentMyHome.co.uk. Your payment information won’t be stored by us, rather our payment provider, Barclaycard. And it will only re-appear if you buy a further product or service, where you will get the choice to use the same card details. These details are then solely re-obtained by Barclaycard.

  • 26 - Do you ever release my personal contact details or information?

We do not share any of your personal details and they will not be visible to any party until a viewing is arranged, where we simply provide prospective tenants with a name and contact number in case you need to communicate before a viewing takes place within our essential package, however for Let Only and Fully managed services, we take care of all contact therefore there is no need to pass any information.
